If the Alamy Content Team are going to put out content requests, I would like to see it made clear how real the demand is for that particular content. It also suffers from the drag of frequently repeating itself, tending to foster the impression that it can be ignored most of the time. I too tend to give no more than a cursory glance towards the tweet panel, for the same reasons Losdemas has outlined. Let's hope that it proves worthwhile for someone. I had one image - quite tenuous - but imagine that (especially) some of the Scandinavian folk here might have something to offer.
I imagine that they don't do it as they regard it as extra unnecessary work for them: a constant thread which they would be responsible for and feel the need to respond to queries? And perhaps they regard the forum as representing only a very tiny minority of Alamy contributors and so not worth the bother?Īnyhow, my initial intention of starting the thread was just to point out the Alamy Tweet to those forum contributors who might have missed it and may well have some of the images required.
My point is that posting those 'Pic Needs' directly onto the forum might well result in Alamy securing a higher hit rate for their customers' needs were they to use all outlets available to them to seek those images. Personally, (again!) I rarely visit the forum front page, so don't see the feed there. Upshot is that (personally) I tend to ignore the Twitter iFrame on the dashboard, (because it's a PITA to use), just occasionally clicking on the feed to access it directly on Twitter for a far more friendly UI. The content of those Tweets also vary they are not limited to #AlamyPicNeeds. A challenge to look at and take in (for me at least - and I doubt that I'm alone in this). It is a long way from a user-friendly way of conveying that information - a 180px wide box (or thereabouts) which displays roughly one to one and a half tweets at a time. Tweets in the box (as at this day/hour) display back to Oct 29th without 'loading more Tweets' - if you scroll down. By disappear, I meant that Tweets are not immediately visible beyond the current one without scrolling. I'm aware of that: I perhaps didn't phrase it well enough. If anything disappears I presume Alamy deleted their tweet. You can keep scrolling down for as far back as you'd like to go.
